PLANET LUKE

Ep. 56

Luca Lozano has created a mix of forthcoming and previously unreleased music for his label, Klasse Wrecks. More info can be found on @klassewrecks

Besides his music, Luca Luciano is an all-round designer working under the name Planetluke.com. Since his childhood days, Luca always had a penchant for stealing. Growing up as a graffiti writer, things like spray paint were items to be acquired via a “five finger discount,” as that was the way of the culture back then. Nowadays “stealing” is still a theme in Luca’s work, as he adapts and appropriates existing imagery into a new form of collage and composition.

After designing record label artwork, posters and flyers for many years, Luca has now reached a point where he has started to delve inward, and has begun sampling his own artwork to create a brand-new body of work. Lozano started recycling what has already been recycled.

For his show ‘The Art of Stealing’ at the Berlin based OBEY Arts space, Lozano created work by deep-diving into his own extensive archive to re-sample previous artworks. The result is more abstract and moves away from the more literal artwork he created for others. Besides a limited edition screen prints, ‘The Art of Stealing’ will also feature a collection of record sleeves, designed by Planetluke.com and a pop up zine-shop with editions of his own KFAX series.

The exhibition will start with an opening event on the 21th of April and stay open for visits until the 2nd of May.
